Jason Ravitz, founder of Evaluation by Design LLC,  is an evaluation and research professional with 25 years experience driving strategy, implementation, insights and impact measurement for educational and social change initiatives. He started as a social studies teacher before finding the Internet and pursuing a Ph.D. in Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation. This led to a career studying how communities and schools use technology to empower themselves, to promote equity, learning and growth. He has worked closely with small organizations and conducted major studies of education and career development programs — often identifying key factors and conditions for change. He completed postdoctoral positions at UC, Irvine and at UC, Berkeley and has held senior positions at Google, Digital Promise, and Buck Institute for Education. Jason earned a combined B.A. from Harvard College in Sociology & Psychology and his Ph.D.from Syracuse University.

Liam is born in Pasadena, California.  He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Sonoma State University.  Among Liam’s skills include computer skills with some basic C-language programming, advanced novice with debian and derivatives linux.  He has some construction and mechanical skills, as well.  Liam is proud to have caught his first trout in Mono County at age 6. Ahmed is a postdoctoral researcher in the Physics Department at the University of California Berkeley. His research focus is quantum simulations and quantum information processing with magnetically and electrically confined individual particles. At the moment, he works with trapped ions, i.e. electrically confined charged particles, to execute quantum gates and/or algorithms beside simulating solid state structure for investigating interesting physical configurations, such as phase transitions. Ahmed is originally from Sudan. He obtained his Master degree from Europe at KTH University in Sweden and Leipzig University in Germany. He moved to Australia to earn his PhD from Western Australia. Ahmed also traveled across Asia before working in UC Berkeley.

Sukomal received his PhD in Structural Engineering from Purdue University in 1997. He is originally from Bengal but has made Northern California his home for the last 22 years. He is one of the lead developers of computer software for structural and earthquake engineering at Computers and Structures, Inc. He has done work in Bangladesh on industrial wastewater treatment.
